The Senko-Ei series from renowned Japanese knifemaker Yu Kurosaki is defined by its sharp, pointed blade shape. The name itself is a nod to this design, with “Ei” meaning “sharp” and “Eiji” translating to “sharp knife” in Japanese. But the blades are not just sharp – their shining surfaces feature a unique hammered texture that evokes a dazzling display of fireworks, hence the “Senko” (fireworks) in the name. These exceptional knives are crafted from SG2 micro-carbide powder stainless steel, one of the hardest and most durable blade steels in the world. This high-performance material provides excellent rust resistance, allowing the blade’s edge to retain its razor sharpness for years to come.
Yet the SG2 steel also lends a beautiful aesthetic quality to the blades. Complementing the superb blades are handles made from half-rounded octagonal ebony wood, recalling the rich traditions of Japanese craftsmanship. Please note that since the ferrules are a natural product, their color may vary slightly from the product images. With their fusion of time-honored aesthetics and cutting-edge materials, the Yu Kurosaki Senko-Ei knives represent the pinnacle of Japanese knifemaking artistry.
