Yu Kurosaki, the master blacksmith to be granted the coveted title of Master Nokaji and a senior teacher at Takefu Knife Village, demonstrates his expertise and workmanship in every knife he makes. The Moon Light – NEW GEKKO – series demonstrates his mastery, with pieces made from newly developed VG-XEOS Stainless Steel meant for experts. This revolutionary steel combines high corrosion resistance, hardness, and good rust hygiene to provide a long-lasting razor-sharp edge. The handles, made of Half Rounded Octagonal Oak wood colored with traditional Japanese lacquer (Urushi), conjure images of Japanese culture.
Across the Gekko series, the blades have a thin laser-like profile, with the tiny and Sujihiki versions maintaining a recognizable in-hand height despite their tilted Ei shapes. The XEOS versions feature a subtle nashiji gloss on the cladding, supplemented.
The handle color varies from light to quite deep ochre. Not dishwasher safe.
Maintenance:
- Avoid chopping hard ingredients such as bones, frozen food, or any rock-solid items.
- Using soap/washing up liquid to clean and wipe with a sponge. Not dishwasher safe.
- These blades will oxidize if left damp or wet and should be dried immediately after washing and oiled with a little vegetable oil or Tsubaki (Camelia oil available in the accessories section).
