Four years ago, Zanmai embarked on an ambitious journey with the launch of our first limited series, the Suzaku, utilizing cuttingedge technology. This was followed by the White Tiger series and the Blue Dragon series last year, which were met with great acclaim. Each of these editions, limited to 50 sets worldwide, has sold out, underscoring their desirability and collectible value. Drawing inspiration from ancient mythology, where cardinal directions are symbolized by mythical creatures, we now present the final limited edition: the Genbu, representing the North.
- Â Blade composition: Multiple layers of VG10 and VG2 steel are welded together, forged, and annealed to form a blade that is extremely light, thin, and strong with a striking Damascus pattern. This is also referred to as a core-less knife since there is no core of hard steel, but rather an entire multi-layered blade of hard steel. The advantage of the coreless blade is its ability to resist chipping and deformation of the blade. This unique structure was developed to represent the tortoise shell pattern associated with Genbu
- Handle material and design: The Genbu edition features an acrylic handle with a complex polyhedral shape, specifically designed to draw out the image of the Black Tortoise of the North.
- Intricate stamping process: A special stamping technique was employed to create a Genbu-inspired design on the blade, further emphasizing the mythological theme.
- Completion of the set: As the fourth and final piece in the Four Gods series, the Genbu limited edition completes the collection, representing the guardian of the North in ancient mythology. • Limited availability: Like its predecessors, the Genbu series is limited to 50 numbered sets worldwide, maintaining the exclusivity of the collection.
- Â These distinctive features set the Genbu series apart from its counterparts in the Four Gods collection, while still maintaining the overall theme and craftsmanship that characterizes the entire limited-edition series.
- Storage case design: It comes with a unique storage case designed to resemble an ancient Japanese paulownia chest, capable of holding all four knives in the Four Gods series.
