A key characteristic of the Yukihira pot is its unevenly embossed surface, created through traditional hand-hammering. This technique increases the pot’s surface area compared to one with smooth sides, enhancing its heat conduction and retention, while also making the pot more durable and resistant to deformation. Thanks to its excellent heat retention, this pot is ideal for slow-cooking meals or simmering rice over low heat. The gently curved sides are perfectly suited for use with a round rice scoop or wooden spatula, and the wooden handle makes lifting and tilting easy. Each pot is handcrafted by skilled artisans, resulting in a unique appearance that differs from machine-made counterparts. The finished product is thick, durable, and has a noticeable weight, reflecting its quality. Over time, the copper, a soft metal that oxidizes easily, will darken in color. With its highly functional design, the copper Yukihira pot is not only practical but also an attractive piece to proudly display in your kitchen. To ensure the longevity of this item, proper care is essential! Always wash it thoroughly and dry it completely after each use, and avoid storing food in it for extended periods. Be cautious with heat—avoid temperatures of 200°C or higher, as this can damage the tin lining. Additionally, refrain from using harsh metal utensils or abrasive cleaning tools to prevent potential damage. It’s recommended to use this pan with a pot lid, which is sold separately. Please note that this copper pan is not compatible with induction heating (IH).
NOTE: Lids sold separately.
Specifications & Care
- Sizes Available:- 15cm to 30cm
- Material:- Copperware , Copper’s natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties make it an ideal material for teaware and various cookware, including pots and kettles. When copper products are left uncoated, they undergo natural oxidation, gradually developing a beautiful, deep rust-like patina over time. This transformation is enhanced through regular use and handling.
- Instructions for Care: To clean, gently wipe with a soft cloth as much as possible. This will promote a more graceful and beautiful aging process over time.Ensure the item is thoroughly dried to prevent water spots. While these spots or darkening will naturally add to its character, if you’re concerned about dirt, you can lightly polish the surface using a sponge and mild detergent or polish. Be cautious not to polish too vigorously, as this may result in scratches or discoloration.Polishing rust: The green patina that forms on copper is a natural, harmless part of its aging process. However, if you wish to remove it, you can use vinegar or a paste made from hot water and baking soda on a soft cotton cloth. Since copper is sensitive to salt, acidity, and moisture, work quickly and only on the areas with the developed patina.
