Nesmuk Exclusive
If there were a hall of fame for products, Nesmuk products would stand at the forefront. With their unique experience, skills and pure passion for craftsmanship, they are committed to tradition, innovation and perfection.
In their basic shape, Nesmuk knives reflect an archetype that has always been extremely demanding for cutting tasks in the 3,500 year old history of traditional knife making. The declared goal and vision of knife manufacturer Nesmuk in Solingen is to make the archaic tool better. A new category of cutting tools has been developed in the course of the years, which fascinate and delight both functionally and aesthetically. With enthusiasm and perfect craftsmanship, Nesmuk sees the whole process – from forge welding and forging through smoothing and sharpening to the finishing of the knife – as a value-added chain in its original sense. In order to build blades that offer maximum sharpness, edge retention as well as long-lasting service life, the knife collection not only proves its capabilities but also with the newest research and the knowledge of various specialists. Always with an uncompromising commitment in mind to reach the optimum in sum, the blade geometry was balanced in the best possible way, the handle ergonomics were tested and varied for pleasant haptic and tire-free operation, experience and cooperations with well-known institutions such as Fraunhofer Institutes were made to achieve the best material properties. All these special qualities indicate that Nesmuk knives are tools that show respect for the cutting material in not fiberizing it, allowing a clean and effortless cut. Which also conveys the archaic feeling that arises from the combination of man and knife. Nesmuk offers a wide range of excellent knives for chefs – professional as well as amateur – but above all for connoisseurs who love extraordinary objects. The knives are refined and perfected with extraordinary materials for blades and handle, which set new standards for the function and design.
The art of forging in perfection
The long quest for the perfect knife
It is way more than just a commodity for everyday use: The Nesmuk EXCLUSIVE bears the heritage of thousands of years and gives its user a wholly different individual power.
Being the forefather of the knife, the biface is among the oldest tools in almost all human societies and is seen as the symbol for the rise of mankind in evolutionary terms. It is a truly archaic object that, refined into the knife, has served as an indispensable tool up to the present. Only the fascination of the primordial has vanished in the course of industrialisation and mass production.
The knife manufacturer Nesmuk has set itself the task of reviving old values with traditional craftsmanship and, at the same time, to meet highest demands regarding sharpness, blade geometry and aesthetics. As a result, the Nesmuk EXCLUSIVE is an unparalleled chef’s and kitchen knife of the superlative. Like all Nesmuk knives it is based on the basic form of a 3,500 year old type of knife. Drawing on many years of studies and comparative analytical tests, highly skilled precision craftsmanship and the uncompromised aim to reach the optimum in sum, Nesmuk has fully perfected the knife.
About four dozen individual steps are required for the production of the Nesmuk EXCLUSIVE in a production process that involves passion and ideals: from forge welding and forging, tempering, annealing and the wet grinding of the double-sided hollow ground blade to the mounting of the handle. Heated up in glowing fire at a temperature of more than 1,000 degrees, the red glowing blade blank is forged on the anvil, formed by targeted, elemental hammer blows. Out of 400 layers of Damascus steel and a cutting edge in finest black carbon steel, which can be seen under the wild Damascus pattern, a fine blade is crafted with outstanding hardness of 64 – 65 Rockwell (HRC) and long-term edge retention.
For numerous well-known top chefs as well as connoisseurs of the particular and authentic, the Nesmuk EXCLUSIVE is the first choice in knives. There is a variety of 17 different handles of precious woods or selected special synthetics such as micarta, juma ivory or juma black and a choice of steel, silver, gold platinum collars available. Special requests are gladly taken into account at an extra cost.
Each Nesmuk EXCLUSIVE is unique and is delivered in a precious piano lacquer case and a wooden sheath.
