Masakage Koishi

Masakage Kumo collection is available online only.

Completely handmade by Master Blacksmith Kato san of Takefu Knife Village, this collection of  super sharp blades are forged from a thin layer of  Aogami Super steel which is clad with soft stainless steel and then hardened to 63:65 HRC to give the knives a very enduring edge that is easy to sharpen. A method known as Warikomi.

The octagonal handles are made with Cherry strengthened with pakka wood (Silicon injected laminated hardwood) ferrules. The name Koishi means pebbles and the name comes from the tsuchime (hammered) finish which gives the impression of river pebbles and increases the blade non sick properties. The black Kurouchi finish reduces reactivity and gives a very Japanese aesthetic.
